Ultimate Warrior Guide
So you’ve chosen the path of steel, grit, and survival. A life without magic or miracles, only the sharp edge of a blade, the weight of your armor, and the discipline of your own body.
In most RPGs, the Warrior stands as a symbol of fortitude, resilience, and martial strength and in Requiem, that remains true, but with greater depth and danger. The world does not hand victories to the bold. Here, combat is brutal, injuries are real, and death can be permanent. To thrive as a Warrior in Requiem, you must master not just your weapon, but your endurance and your ability to adapt.
What makes a warrior in Requiem isn't just the weapon they wield but the choices they make, the skills you hone.
This guide will help you:
- Understand the core identity of the Warrior in Requiem.
- Learn about the combat skills, attributes, and mechanics you’ll rely on.
- Choose your specialization wisely: Swords, Fencing, Axes, or Polearms.
- Plan your attribute growth.
And progress from novice recruit to seasoned veteran, ready to leave your mark on the First Province. Whether you aim to be a disciplined legionnaire, a wandering duelist, or a hardened Templar standing against Affliction and ruin, this guide will prepare you for the long road ahead.
1. Weapon Skills: Fencing, Swords, Axes & Polearms
Each weapon skill affects combat style and special moves: Please refer to Armory
- Swords: Balanced speed and damage; unlocks special moves like Bleed Attack and Mortal Strike.
- Fencing: Fastest swings; excels in burst damage, perfect for quick PvP strikes.
- Axes: High damage per hit with slower speed; ideal for attacking multiple enemies at once.
- Polearms: Longer reach and area attacks; Great for crowd control in PvM.
- Each weapon skill ranges from 0–120. Progress through practice and animus investment.
There is no single “best” weapon in Requiem that will carry you through all PvP and PvE encounters. Each weapon type (Swords, Axes, Fencing, Polearms) has its strengths, weaknesses, and ideal situations. While it's technically possible to train multiple weapon skills, doing so is extremely Animus-intensive and often unsustainable for most builds within the skill cap.
Instead, it's recommended to focus on one or two complementary weapon skills that suit your playstyle and allow tactical flexibility.
For example:
A seasoned Warrior might train Axes to cleave through groups of weaker enemies or Afflicted using powerful Whirlwind Attacks. But when facing a tougher single target, he switches to Swords for faster strikes and reliable single-target damage. Specializing allows you to master the tools of your chosen weapons while leaving room to develop vital survival and support skills like Parry, Healing, and Resist Spells. The key to being an effective Warrior isn't swinging the biggest blade, it’s knowing when to use the right weapon for the battle at hand.
Key Supporting Skills
- Tactics: Adds proportional damage to weapon strikes, essential to maximize weapon effectiveness.
- Anatomy: Provides a flat damage boost and increases Grit healing power. Crucial for solo survivability. «Link to Healing & Grit Skill Page»
- Parry: Chance to block incoming melee hits. Balance with your weapon skill for optimal defense.
- Resist Spells: Mitigates duration and effect of spells like paralysis or curses, vital to survive PvP and PvM hazards.
- Finesse: Boosts stamina regeneration, allowing prolonged fights without rest.
3. Attributes: Strength, Dexterity & Intelligence
Understanding the Attributes Page (Stats) is critical to shaping an effective Warrior build. Your Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence don’t just influence your stats, they determine how well your character performs in battle, how long you can survive, and how often you can use critical abilities.
Dexterity (Speed, Healing, and Stamina Efficiency) If your build relies on quick actions like healing, attacking rapidly, or dodging attacks, then Dexterity will be a key focus. High Dexterity affects: Grit healing speed (when using bandages), Attack speed, particularly with lighter weapons, Stamina regeneration, which fuels your actions.
Strength (Damage and Durability) If you’re playing a tank-oriented build, your priority will shift to Strength and Hits (HP). Strength increases: Melee damage output, especially with heavy weapons like axes, Carry weight, allowing you to bring more gear and supplies, Overall toughness, complementing armor and parrying. (Shield Check skill can push down enemies)
Stamina (The Unsung Hero of Every Warrior) Stamina isn’t just a passive stat; it governs nearly all your combat actions: Sprinting requires at least 40 stamina to activate. Each special weapon move consumes 25 stamina. Other skills like Parry, and some active abilities rely on stamina to function.
Without sufficient stamina, your character becomes vulnerable, and unable to engage or retreat effectively. Maintaining a healthy stamina pool ensures you can sustain pressure in combat, escape when needed, and avoid becoming exhausted mid-fight.
A recommended starting attribute will be as follows:
- Strength 50
- Dexterity 30
- Int 10
- Hits 70
- Stamina 30
- Mana 10
4. Combat Mechanics Tips
- Dexterity and type of weapon base speed affects your base swing damage.
- Anatomy and Weapon Skills adds flat damage and improves Grit healing
- Parry will passively trigger to reduce melee damage. Both Single handed or Two handed weapons can be used to parry attacks.
- Resist Spells protects against CC in PvM & PvP.
- Focus keeps stamina healthy for extended fights.
